Rumen Relief provides supplemental buffers needed when animals are fed high levels of grain (starch), low roughage, high moisture or chopped forages. It is formulated with ingredients that supplement natural buffers to help animals reach their genetic potential.
Rumen Relief supplements the natural buffering agents secreted in the cow’s saliva during the chewing process.
Chopped forages and/or high grain diets tend to increase rumen acid because of reduced saliva production and high amounts of readily available carbohydrates. Rumen Relief helps buffer and neutralize rumen pH levels.
When To Use
Rumen Relief can help buffer rumen pH levels in the following situations:
- High grain feeding
- High moisture chopped forages
- Ground and/or pelleted rations
- •During ration changes
Sodium Bicarbonate
Rumen Relief has a strong buffering action that helps maintain a stable pH and healthy rumen environment.
Magnesium Oxide
- Has moderate buffering action
- Is important for maintaining normal milk fat
Positive DCAD
Rumen Relief provides cations which contributes to a positive dietary cation-anion difference (DCAD). Increasing overall ration DCAD in a lactating ration can help maintain milk production in hot weather.
