Dry Lot Brood Cow Supplements

Cow/Calf profitability depends upon efficient use of land resources. The best use of these resources for a particular operation depends on the geographical area, the weather, markets and the time of the year. Dry lot feeding of the cow herd is more and more often becoming the most efficient way to manage brood cows during certain times of the year or in some cases all year long. The Hubbard line of Dry Lot Brood Cow Supplements offers calving and breeding season products, maintenance products, conventional feeding products and products designed for corn coproduct feeding situations.

About the Product

Form and Feeding Rate
Dry lot brood cow supplements are most often ordered as pelleted products to be fed at approximately 0.5 pound per head per day. This form and feeding rate minimizes waste and provides the opportunity to evenly mix the supplement with the rest of the ration.

Calving and Breeding Supplements
These supplements are particularly appropriate in herds with historically poor reproductive performance, herds that desire maximum reproductive performance, herds that have previously been on a low plane of nutrition and herds in which trace mineral antagonists such as molybdenum, sulfates and iron are present at high levels. These products are formulated to be fed from 60 days prior to calving until the cows are bred back. These products contain extra trace mineral and vitamin fortification including organic trace minerals.

Maintenance Supplements
These supplements are formulated for brood cows outside of the calving and breeding window. These products can be used year round when cows are offered good quality forages, are on a year round supplement program and have a history of good reproductive performance.

Coproduct Supplements
The coproduct supplements are formulated for use in corn coproduct feeding programs. They feature a mineral profile complementing the profile found in corn coproducts and also contain thiamine.

Choice of Additives
Proper use of additives can improve animal performance; refer to the product tag for a specific claim. Dry Cow Brood Cow Supplements are available with approved feed additives.
